Bergerac is the gateway to the Dordogne, with luscious vineyards and rolling countryside. It's one of Aquitaine's most prestigious wine-growing regions and has a thriving tourist scene, with several museums and statues of Cyrano de Bergerac, the dramatist and satirist whose romantic adventures inspired plays, literature, and films. The highlight of Bergerac is its old town, which is just to the north of the Dordogne river. This area has some lovely streets with half-timbered buildings, squares, shops, and restaurants. Bergerac is very well connected in terms of transport links, benefitting from a train station and an airport. In fact, the Enterprise branch in Bergerac is located at the airport. This is ideal for those flying into the region. However, if you're arriving at the town's train station, the airport is only about 3 miles to the south. The best way to reach the Enterprise branch here is by taxi.
